Veterinary Surgeries FAQs

Just a few common questions about Veterinary Surgeries. If there is something else you need to know just ask in the Contact Us form below!

  • How do you ensure my pet is safe for surgery and anaesthesia?

Before any invasive procedure, we strongly recommend pre-anaesthetic blood testing using our in-house pathology services. This allows us to check your pet’s organ function (especially liver and kidneys) immediately before anesthesia to identify any underlying risks and tailor a plan specifically for your pet.

  • My pet is a Pug, French bulldog or British bulldog. What is BOAS and why might they need surgery?

Surgery may be required where breeds can suffer from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). This is a collection of anatomical issues, such as narrow nostrils and an elongated soft palate, that can severely restrict their breathing.

  • Are there any common seasonal surgeries I should be aware of?

The most common seasonal issue we see requiring surgery is grass seed penetration.
